Via Tripadvisor… where we are consistently rated the #1 tour company in Haines!

My husband and I booked a private float trip through the Chilkat Eagle Preserve to get photos. We had a mishap the day before the trip which put out cameras under water. Joe Ordonez’s, owner of Rainbow Glacier Adventures, daughter loaned up a camera to save at the trip. Our guide rearranged his schedule, changing our date to Saturday evening so we would have a camera. He also went to great efforts to get the raft onto gravel bars, positioning up for eagle photos. The entire family and staff were exceptionally accommodating to our needs.

“We took the white pass summit and Yukon Suspension bridge tour with our family of 4 in July. Rachel was our tour guide and she was fantastic! She knew a lot of the history, was able to point out spots of interest, informed us about the local scenery and wildlife and was extremely engaging! Our 12 and 14 year olds loved it, and we highly recommend Rachel for anybody looking to make their way up the Yukon trail, not on the train. Did I mention the incredible scenery? Glaciers! Waterfalls! Alpine meadows! Rushing rivers! Majestic mountains! All worth every penny, thanks Rachel!”

“We had an amazing tour with Rainbow Glacier and our guide Jen from the port in Haines. She was fun and down t earth and entertained us with her Alaska facts and tales. Our tour took us along the Chilkoot River and lake and we respectfully observed the wildlife. We saw a mama bear (speedy) and her 3 cubs along the river, many eagle nests and eaglets, learned how the salmon spawn and are counted and about some natural healing!
Lunch was included and we had a picnic along the water, saw the amazing Rainbow Glacier and the last Cannery in Haines. I highly recommend supporting the local business and taking the rainbow glacier tour with Jen!”

We went on the Chilkoot Lake Nature and Wildlife Viewing tour and were very pleased with the great service. A guide was waiting for us as we walked off the ship and Barb, our Haines tour guide, was a delight. We saw lots of bald eagles from a distance and – the best part – saw 2 bears feeding. It was a great break from the crowds in Skagway! Would happily go on tour with them again.

On a Princess Cruise to Alaska, we decided to try a non-Princess tour in Skagway. We were delighted with this tour to the suspension bridge in the Yukon. Our tour guide was Rachel who in addition to being knowledgeable about the area, the people, the history and geography, was a wildlife photographer who knew the best places to stop and take photos. My only advice is, if you take this tour over lunch time, bring snacks. There is little time to stop and eat.

“The best part was seeing so many bears up close, without even getting out of the car. There was a mother and three cubs that gave us a lot of entertainment. Our guide was very knowledgeable and was easily able to answer all our questions and give us so much information… We would highly recommend this tour, well worth the money.”

“We went on an evening bear tour. It was great! This was a private tour in a minivan – the four of us (2 adults, a 6 year old, and a 2 year old) with our guide, Jen. The guide lives locally and was great! We really enjoyed hearing about what it is like to live in Alaska and her life there. She even took us to see her house that she has built, that was like no other we’ve seen – like something out of a fairytale.”

“Carolyn met us at the pier and was our personal guide that spent the time sharing her love of Haines and the bears we saw from start to finish!…A town regular, one sow and her three cubs delighted us all morning fishing and feasting on the salmon. Turning to wrestling matches and romping along the shore line of the river…So, enjoy a wonderful time with Rainbow Glacier Adventures and take back some great photos of the ‘Jewels of Haines.”

“Joe’s knowledge and experience were extremely useful to us during our time filming at the Chilkat & Chilkoot rivers. He went out of his way to contribute to the production in every way possible including, finding and scouting the best wildlife locations, briefing the team and presenter with his extensive knowledge of the local wildlife, helping with scripting, logistics and equipment hire. He was an extremely engaging and informative guide both on and off screen and I would not hesitate to recommend his services to anyone visiting or filming in the Haines area.”

“Haines is just beautiful, and spending time watching a mother bear with her two cubs catching salmon was the highlight of our trip. Thanks to Rainbow Glacier Adventures who made this possible.”

Our family saw so many eagles we lost count! Great river rafting experience! We highly recommend it!

“The trip was so personal that my wife and I were the only cruisers there. Our guide is a real Alaskan, building her own home in the woods, living off the land. We rowed along Chilkoot Lake, seeing salmon, bears and eagles along the shore, even saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs walking along the road a few feet from our van. The hike was further down the coast along the river. Jen was a knowledgeable and congenial woman who answered all our questions and gave us a colorful history of the area. I would recommend their tours over any of the cruiseline mass market ones in a second.”
